Yay for "Once"! I've been telling everyone to see that movie. I think they don't believe me because they don't come back to me gushing about the most important experience of their lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised you thought Milk was so bad. I haven't seen it but it has been getting such good reviews. And Watchmen looks so awesome! How can it just be okay? I want to see The Reader too.
I'm glad you guys are blogging. Keep it going.
I thought Watchmen was just Ok because it was a poorly constructed movie. It really was a direct adaptation of the book, with all of the associated problems. People are prepared to spend a few weeks with a book, so its ok to have scenes in the book that are extraneous. In a movie, that hurts the flow and distracts from the story. It was a truly beautiful visual orgy though--the visuals are superb.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think my my problem with Milk was that it was just neatly packaged progressivism, which I am opposed to. And I've always hated Sean Penn.
I usually judge movies on whether or not I hate the actors...haha
ReplyDeleteYou HATE Sean Penn? WHAAAAAAAAT?
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Mystic River? If you've seen that you're not allowed to hate him.
I judge movies on whether or not I hate the female actors. If I hate the female actor, it's basically impossible for me to watch.
I am glad Once was still on the list. Slumdog was also fantastic. I can't wait to see Doubt. I do love Philip Seymour Hoffman. (Sean Penn is okay, but unfortunately I saw him in 21 Grams, which was an annoying movie. I haven't seen Mystic River.)
ReplyDeleteI told Alyssa that we were going to watch "let the right one in" and she said ok.
